We're off and running for day 3. I'm on a less than ideal 111k, which already looks like 95 or so. Big stacks abound and I'm just existing right now. Quite a few bust outs already around the room.
I tried to do a quick video update this morning. 'Twas a bit rushed and not sure if it managed to upload. It was only me waffling anyway. I did say in it that the chip leader had 600k...I meant the chip leader on my table!
Down to 72k in the blink of an eye. Blinds are 4000/8000/1000 and have gone through me twice. Need to get busy pretty fast. Down to approx 470 players.
Fuck.
Decided to take a flip when a shorter stack pushed and it looked desperate. I rejammed with 77, everyone folds and he shows K9 off. Great.
River 9. fml. Down to 32k :(
Find KQ next hand and shove. I get called BY 77... Not liking this.
I flop a queen and hold. Back to 80k.
Some small ball pots...up/down slightly. Then I get it in with AK vs AK.
No miracles and we chop the blinds. 85k and 450 players left.
People certainly gambling. One kid just raised with 55, got shoved on for another 100k, and said "let's gamble" and called. He was up against AQ. Flop 347...he calls for a six, and hits it. Easy game.
Down to 66k. My spidey-sense was tingling and I just folded 44 in an unraised pot. The button shows aces. Weeeee.
60k. Can't make any headway, and can't let myself dip too low. It might be an ugly one folks.
Jammed one and it got through. 80k.
My table broke. New table and down to 57k. Nice guys but I need to get back over 100k fast. 344 left. Now really would be the time to squeeze out something useful, I'm in the big blind next and a round costs me 24k.
I jammed around 36k with A8. A big stack who I'd been chatting with for a bit called me with KJ, saying he was gambling once everyone else had folded. He flopped a jack, and I didn't improve. Simple as that.
I'm disappointed to bust in 310th place and collect $6331 after getting through such a monumentally huge field, but I can't complain. The WSOP tournaments are superb events that afford the chance to play properly with a great structure and a shot at a proper payday. You need some luck of course and I'd say I had my share of both good and bad over the last few days. I felt happy with my game overall, and hopefully it bodes well for the upcoming weeks. Nothing to do but dust myself down and just move onto the next one. Most likely I'll take the rest of today or even the next day off, meet friends and just relax after 3 very tiring days at the Rio. I'll try to do a video later, but for now thanks very much to all for the support and words, and watch this space for the next instalment. Xo
