ABOUT ME
The first time I really got into poker was when I was around 17, back in the dark ages. In those days it was all draw and stud poker, and was normally played pot-limit. Growing up I played various card games in the snooker and billiard halls around South London, where I also played money-matches and pool/snooker competitions. Card games and pool were normally hand in hand back then. Anything with a degree of both luck and skill.
I started taking poker a lot more seriously when I first visited a London casino, Russell Square in Holborn when I was around 30 years old. I'd never played in a "proper" poker tournament before, but after serving my apprenticeship (that means losing my money) I finally began to get the hang of things, and after a while I finally won my first tournament. I then began to subsidize my regular income by playing tournaments more seriously and travelling the UK circuit. One hiccup about 5 years later when I experienced a very bad run, and also overextended my bankroll, meant I went broke, and went back to doing a "normal" job for around 6 months. I then got myself back into shape and from there I never looked back. Even though I now work full-time, poker, and in particular, tournaments have been fair portion of my income to this day.
Nowadays when in the UK, my poker activities are mostly spent at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino, or "The Vic", as it is affectionately known by the regulars.
