OK, so you've seen the site, read the bio, seen the trophies the wins and tournament cashes. Now the big question...Why does this guy need to be staked then? It's a good question. The overly simple answer is, I don't. The actual answer requires a bit more detail that most poker players will already understand, but people who are new to the game or to staking may need explained a little.
Even when you're a winning poker player, unless you win six figures or more pretty early on in life, playing tournaments regularly gets to be both pretty tiring and very expensive, especially during a prolonged series of events such as I'd normally choose to play. The schedules are pretty gruelling, and to maximize the chances of making a decent profit on the trip, you need to stay sharp, physically and mentally fit, disciplined and highly focused in order to remain on top of your game. Even then sadly, due to the very nature of tournaments, there are still no guarantees of a healthy return because of that wonderful thing that the kids call variance. This is why even extremely good players can repeatedly go 12 levels deep into every event, bust out horribly and have to start all over again the following day after really having done nothing wrong. That's just the nature of poker tournaments. There is pretty much nothing a good player can do but accept this.
My own records and observations over the years have shown without doubt that live tournaments with big fields are easily my greatest skill-set in poker. It's essentially how I've made my living. What I'm now doing is maximizing that edge, by planning a more selective tournament schedule, and making my only concern when I'm there simply to play as well as I can. No cash games, no satellites, no slot machines (OK I don't actually play them but you get the idea) just tournament poker. This gives me and my investors the best chances to let me focus, and just do what I do best.
I advertise my upcoming schedule or total financial outlay planned on this site in advance. I buy up a large percentage of my own action, just like any other investor, which makes the numbers as simple as possible to manage. The amount of shares I've currently sold for an upcoming trip are clearly displayed on the site for people to see. Once I sell all shares, the trip is confirmed and anyone who has purchased action (or those who are simply curious) can then follow my progress via the updates, which I put on a dedicated page on the site.
