ASK THE AUDIENCE

OK, it's question time. It's about time you lot did some work for once.

I've mentioned in the past my approach to WSOP events is sometimes a plod, especially early. Wait for a strong hand or draw, let some schmuck pay you off, etc. don't just spack off for an early bath. This doesn't always run hand in hand with my natural playing style, which is more fluid and more about feel than actual cards. I tend to be fairly tight aggressive, but when I have a stack I use it, and I don't let myself get bullied or anted away. I consider it bad poker. The problem is, it's hard to get chips when you're playing defensively. You need a LOT of big hands to hold up. Playing faster and looser produces bigger stacks sometimes, but also bigger swings. You can't have it all-ways.

My question is above. Primarily for people who've bought a share, but also interested in the thoughts of other readers to this site. If you have someone out here doing battle with their/your money trying for a payday, what would you rather they do? This is specifically for WSOP events, where the buy-ins are bigger and the starting chips smaller (though the structure as said before more than makes up for this). I'm not about to radically change my game, but I am genuinely curious what people think. Click away x.

I used to be very active backing players and my advice to them all the time was not to worry about anybody else, play their natural game, play to win and don't worry about it if a play doesn't come off.
I only back players that I believe have a game that can go deep.

Hi Calvin. I get where you're coming from. As said it's not going to change how I play, which generally is to take the day as it comes. I was just curious what people think. There are times when sticking it in with 6 high on the river is absolutely the right thing to do, but it looks odd on the updates because the reader wasn't "in" the situation where that bet might win 90% of the time.
